Peter Edwards getting ready"
The 2008 BWLA British Unequipped Bench Press championships were held at Hatchford Brook Youth Centre, Old Load Lane, Solihull on 31st May and 1st June 2008
where Wales were represented by just 2 lifters after Neville Joseph had to withdraw due to an injury.
Peter Edwards of Swansea lifted very well in his first national competition and his 130kg bench gave him first place in the under 20s 125kg weight
class and 3rd place overall in the group. Rob Thomas of Caerphilly, who was suffering from a stomach bug and injured shoulder lifted in the 125+
senior class and finished in second place with 215kgs, just missing out on 222.5kgs which would have taken first place with a new British Record.
